Setting Yourself Up for Success for 2027 Budgeting

Budget season goes wrong early, usually in the first two weeks, when targets are unclear and templates start multiplying. Natasha walks through how to run a clean setup: aligning leadership on guardrails before templates go out, deciding who owns which assumptions, and cutting the template chaos, version drift, and rekeying that eat the fall. You will leave with a practical checklist for a 2027 budget process that stays organized from kickoff through the numbers landing back in your ERP. Building a Defensible First-Pass Budget Using a Forecasting Bridge

A first-pass budget is easy to build and hard to defend. Carl shows how to build one as a driver-based bridge: start from current-year actuals plus your full-year forecast as the baseline, then layer in the drivers that move next year, price, volume, mix, cost inflation, productivity, headcount, and one-time items, to land on a target. Because every step reconciles and every step has an owner, you can trace the plan back to the "why" when leadership asks. As Carl has put it, the goal of a bridge is simplicity and explanation.
