Face of Velixo – Sabine Canel

This year we wanted to focus on working relationships, and this all begins right here within our Velixo team. Every person has a unique story and often in a fast-moving world, we don’t take the time to get to know those around us, and particularly those who we work alongside. Adding to the fact is that many jobs can be done online nowadays and therefore face to face communication is becoming less and less. 

At the beating heart of Velixo, you will find Sabine. As an Executive Assistant, Sabine has a good overall understanding of the business, dealing with all employees and clients regularly. We are very proud to have such a diverse and talented team. We spoke with Sabine to find out more about her unique story and why she enjoys working at Velixo. 

Q: Tell us a little bit about yourself…

I am French and immigrated to Canada 20 years ago. I have been working as an administrative assistant for more than 25 years in France and Canada at different levels and for different companies such as Cognicase, Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton, GFI Solutions d’affaires, Cirque du Soleil and École Nationale de Cirque.

I have decided to offer my services as a consultant and have created my company ‘Admin Comme Sabine’ in May 2019 to help small and medium-sized companies by providing them with efficient, reliable and professional administrative support, allowing them to focus on their business goals.

Q: When did you start working for Velixo? 

Velixo is my first client. We started our collaboration in May 2019.

Q: What is your favourite part about working for Velixo? 

Working for Gabriel is a pleasure. The passion that drives him is contagious and stimulating. Gabriel is very dynamic and dedicated. I am pleased to support him in his projects and daily needs. Moreover, he treats his collaborators with great respect and appreciation.

Q: If you could invite 3 people for a dinner party who would you invite and why?

My 2 best friends in France and my best friend in Canada, so they can meet and for the pleasure to mix our cultures. I am sure it would be a great dinner with a lot of fun!

Q: As an Executive Assistant, you need to be organized. What are your 3 top organizational tips? 

•  Identify the real priorities
• A task list with deadlines and follow-ups to control my workload and manage my working time efficiently
• Stay focused: one task at a time

Q: What is the biggest challenge for you at work?

Increase my clientele and therefore my workload by keeping a healthy pace of work. I want to find the right balance.

Q: What is your dream holiday location? 

Australia

Q: What are your main hobbies? 

Badminton, photography, dancing swing and rock a billy, reading, singing and travel.

Q: Doughnut or gelato?

GELATO ???? I am back from holidays in Tuscany and the gelatos were gorgeous.
