As one of the earliest adopters of Velixo for Sage Intacct Construction, Tina Frey, Director of Administrative Services, and Justin Kreutzer, Controller, at 4Sight Construction Group have been instrumental in driving the development of several key report templates now used across the industry.

Their hands-on collaboration with Velixo’s product team, and their long-standing relationship with Sage partner Bangert have led to the creation of powerful, construction-specific reports. We thank Tina for catching up with us and talking about her story and experience with Velixo.

About 4Sight Construction group

4Sight Construction Group is a general contractor specialising in multi-family residential new builds and renovations across Missouri, Kansas, and Oklahoma. With over $70 million in active projects and a small, nimble team, the company must closely manage costs, compliance, subcontractors, and cash flow – all while juggling different funding structures, draw schedules, and project timelines.

After transitioning from Sage 300 to Sage Intacct, 4Sight needed a better way to manage reporting – especially around project-level forecasting, cost control, and billing for their draw requests. That’s when their implementation partner, Bangert, introduced them to Velixo.

“Moving to Sage Intacct felt like a breath of fresh air,” says Tina, Director of Administrative Services at 4Sight. “But we quickly realised the native reporting just wasn’t enough for what construction accounting demands. That’s when Velixo came in, and made all the difference.”

Key Challenges

Unlike general financial management, construction accounting requires:

"There were no drill-downs in Sage 300, and Intacct was better, but we needed Excel-based access to real-time data to make fast, informed decisions"

Enter Velixo: Built for Project-Centric Accounting

Velixo connects Excel directly to Sage Intacct, enabling finance and project teams to work in the tool they trust – without static exports or manual data manipulation.

Key Benefits for 4Sight:

“Velixo brought back the Excel-based flexibility we missed, but with true integration to Sage Intacct. That’s a huge advantage.”

Real Use Cases

Here are some of the critical use cases that Velixo unlocked for 4Sight:

Cost Projection

Project managers use Velixo to tracks project costs by cost code, enter the costs to complete each cost code, and finally push the revised Cost at Completion as an Forecast Estimates and Budgets directly into Sage Intacct – without needing to log into the ERP.

  • Time saved: 50% reduction in monthly forecasting effort
Cash-Basis Financial reporting

Justin, 4Sight’s controller leverages cash-basis financial reports such as the Monthly Billings to Cost report, that tracks AR invoices, AP Bills, Employee timesheets and Journals to accurately report on cash flow’s ins and outs.

  • Time saved: 90% reduction in reporting time
  • Previously required exporting and merging multiple sources manually
Substantiated Billings for Draw

Tina uses Velixo to generate complete draw packets with detailed AP billings and all required invoice backups. This is critical for submitting claims to project owners or lenders on time, and is essential as part of Draw Requests.

  • Time saved: 75% reduction in monthly draw packet preparation
  • Cuts out significant repetitive work
Staff Timesheet & Expense tracking

4Sight manages their payroll through a sister company using a different system but nonetheless feeds the data back into Sage Intacct for job costing. Velixo extracts  Timesheet entries and is able to calculate costs even for unbilled hours, using employee positions, alongside Staff expenses. This allows 4Sight to have complete control and visibility over employee costs.

  • Keeps job cost reports current even across systems.

Favorite features

Reports are built to allow filtering by project, vendor, or time period, so users can focus instantly on the job at hand—whether they’re checking retention balances or verifying purchase orders.

Tina’s favourite feature: “The ability to refresh data by project and drill into detail – it just works.”

What’s next for 4Sight

As 4Sight grows, Tina is already looking to expand Velixo’s use – including enhancements to AR aging reports and refinements to existing reports.

“Even when we run into something unexpected, the Velixo team is quick to help and genuinely listens to our feedback,” she adds.

“We’re a small team managing large, complex projects. Velixo gave us the flexibility and power we needed, and the collaboration with Bangert and Velixo made it easy to shape the tools around our real-world needs. Velixo saves us hours every week. It’s one of the best tools we’ve implemented.”.”
