As one of the earliest adopters of Velixo for Sage Intacct Construction, Tina Frey, Director of Administrative Services, and Justin Kreutzer, Controller, at 4Sight Construction Group have been instrumental in driving the development of several key report templates now used across the industry.
Their hands-on collaboration with Velixo’s product team, and their long-standing relationship with Sage partner Bangert have led to the creation of powerful, construction-specific reports. We thank Tina for catching up with us and talking about her story and experience with Velixo.
About 4Sight Construction group
4Sight Construction Group is a general contractor specialising in multi-family residential new builds and renovations across Missouri, Kansas, and Oklahoma. With over $70 million in active projects and a small, nimble team, the company must closely manage costs, compliance, subcontractors, and cash flow – all while juggling different funding structures, draw schedules, and project timelines.
After transitioning from Sage 300 to Sage Intacct, 4Sight needed a better way to manage reporting – especially around project-level forecasting, cost control, and billing for their draw requests. That’s when their implementation partner, Bangert, introduced them to Velixo.
“Moving to Sage Intacct felt like a breath of fresh air,” says Tina, Director of Administrative Services at 4Sight. “But we quickly realised the native reporting just wasn’t enough for what construction accounting demands. That’s when Velixo came in, and made all the difference.”
Principaux défis
Unlike general financial management, construction accounting requires:
- Job-level reporting with real-time actuals vs. budget tracking
- Retainage management to properly defer revenue recognition until earned
- Draw packet assembly that includes backup documentation for lenders or clients
- Detailed cost projections to forecast end-of-job profitability
- Payroll cost allocation by job, task, and cost code — even across entities
Enter Velixo: Built for Project-Centric Accounting
Velixo connects Excel directly to Sage Intacct, enabling finance and project teams to work in the tool they trust – without static exports or manual data manipulation.
Key Benefits for 4Sight:
- Real-time job costing and cost-to-complete forecasting
- Push/pull integration of budgets and cost projections into Sage Intacct
- Dynamic filtering by job, vendor, or date with instant refresh
- Automated draw packet generation with invoice attachments, for substantiated billings
- Cash-basis financials tailored for construction company workflows
- Ease of customization – “adding extra custom fields in our reports, such as Mileage employee expenses, was easily done”
Caractéristiques préférées
Reports are built to allow filtering by project, vendor, or time period, so users can focus instantly on the job at hand—whether they’re checking retention balances or verifying purchase orders.
Tina’s favourite feature: “The ability to refresh data by project and drill into detail – it just works.”
What’s next for 4Sight
As 4Sight grows, Tina is already looking to expand Velixo’s use – including enhancements to AR aging reports and refinements to existing reports.
“Even when we run into something unexpected, the Velixo team is quick to help and genuinely listens to our feedback,” she adds.
