Case Study: Bridge Tower

Scaling Financial Operations in Real Estate with Excel-Powered Automation
We sat down with Cooper Weiss, Director of Accounting at Bridge Tower, to explore how his team used Velixo to move from manual processes to scalable, automated financial operations — all inside Excel.
What started as a fragmented, heavily manual reporting environment is now a streamlined, high-efficiency operation spanning 193 entities, powered by templates, writebacks, and real-time data from Acumatica. This is the story of how one finance leader built a modern reporting engine using the tools his team already knew and trusted.

About Bridge Tower
Founded in 2013, Bridge Tower is a real estate and development firm with end-to-end capabilities — from land acquisition and construction to property management and asset sale. Based in Dallas, Texas, the company manages thousands of properties across the southern U.S. and has over 193 entities under management. Their mission is to streamline real estate finance and operations by building modern, scalable processes supported by smart technology.
Bridge Tower’s finance team doesn’t just manage transactions — they engineer entire systems to support automated reporting, AI-assisted workflows, and data integrity across the enterprise. Spearheading these initiatives is Cooper Weiss, who joined in 2022 and has since rebuilt their reporting infrastructure using Acumatica and Velixo as the foundation.
Meet Cooper Weiss
Cooper Weiss, Director of Accounting at Bridge Tower, has revolutionized the company’s financial operations by blending hands-on problem-solving with powerful Excel-based automation. A self-taught Excel expert and Velixo power user, Cooper became the internal champion for transforming reporting processes that once relied heavily on manual input and fragmented workflows.
By building and iterating on dozens of reusable templates, Cooper equipped his team to work faster, more accurately, and with consistent formatting across all reports — reducing review time and virtually eliminating errors. He led the transition from quarterly to monthly closes for over 193 entities, introduced automated journal entry writebacks, and centralized reporting tools in a way that made financial data more accessible for everyone, not just accountants.
His leadership and ability to connect strategy with execution have positioned Bridge Tower’s finance team for long-term scalability and made Velixo a cornerstone of their operations.
Principaux défis
Bridge Tower transitioned to Acumatica ERP around 2019–2020 after outgrowing QuickBooks, which had served as their accounting backbone during the early stages of the business. With nearly 200 legal entities and growing complexity across real estate and property management operations, the company needed a solution that offered scalability, speed, and automation.
While Acumatica provided a strong foundation and robust modularity, Bridge Tower encountered several challenges — particularly around reporting, data standardization, and workflow efficiency:
- Inconsistent and siloed reporting – With multiple accountants building reports in their own formats, the finance team lacked standardization. “If I looked at a financial,” Cooper said, “I could tell who created it.” This made reviews cumbersome and created risks for misclassifications and errors in financial packages sent to investors.
- Heavy reliance on manual entries – Before Velixo, most journal entries and data uploads were handled manually, often one line at a time. This slowed down processes and made it difficult to scale the team’s workload as the number of entities and transactions grew.
- Lack of workflow automation – While Acumatica enabled better data access, key workflows like reconciliations, property management fee calculations, and month-end entries still required excessive manual intervention. The team was eager to reduce turnaround time and create scalable processes.
- Limited consolidation and close capabilities – With over 193 entities, Bridge Tower struggled to produce timely consolidated reports. Monthly closes were impractical, and the team operated on a quarterly schedule, which delayed visibility and insights for decision-makers.
“It’s very user friendly to the point where you don’t have to be an accountant to look at these financials or to look at these reports that we’re creating. It makes it to where it’s very black and white… you're not having to do rocket science to look at these numbers.”
La différence Velixo
Templates That Standardize Everything
When Cooper joined Bridge Tower, one of his first goals was eliminating inconsistencies across reports, entries, and financial workflows. Using Velixo, he built Excel templates with more than 20 custom formulas to ensure data formatting, subaccounts, and branches are always correct and consistent.
Now, no matter who prepares the report, it looks the same.
Journal Entry Writeback — Without the Upload Files
Bridge Tower relies on Velixo’s Journal Entry Writeback daily — not just for convenience.
From calculating property management fees to importing trial balances from their construction business, Cooper’s team uses built-in templates to go straight from calculation to Acumatica, skipping manual file creation altogether.
“We probably upload everything through Velixo or import scenarios. Manual entries are almost non-existent now.”
This has transformed their close process:
- What used to take 3 accountants an entire week now takes 1 person 2 days
- Monthly closings are now done across all entities — averaging just 10 business days
- In total, Velixo has saved the business 60+ days annually
Reporting & Reconciliations — Built for Scale
Velixo powers standardized reporting and advanced reconciliation workflows across 193 entities. Cooper’s team uses custom Generic Inquiries in Acumatica to pull data into Excel — everything from account details to subaccount-level breakdowns — and reconciles at a level of detail that supports accrual-based accounting, investor reporting, and internal audits.
“We were cash basis before. With Velixo, we were able to switch to accrual because we could finally handle reconciliation upon reconciliation.”
Reports are now flexible, accurate, and user-friendly — so much so that even non-accountants can understand and work with them.
Real-Time Tax & Audit Support
Every month, the team pulls balance sheets, income statements, and GL detail across all entities — and compiles it for tax filings with just a few clicks.
Instead of downloading from Acumatica one by one, they created custom GIs and connected them directly to Velixo templates. The result?
- 2–3 days saved on tax file prep — every single month
- Seamless consolidation and audit support with zero manual formatting
“When we crystalize a project — Velixo lets us break down everything on the fly and show exactly what’s investment, what’s payout, and what’s retained earnings.”
Velixo change la donne
Scalable, automated financial operations — all built in Excel and powered by Velixo.
Do More with Less
What once took three accountants now takes one. Velixo automates reporting, entries, and reconciliations — freeing time for higher-value work.
10-Day Monthly Close
From quarterly closes to monthly closes across 193 entities — now completed in just 10 business days or less.
Built to Scale with the Business
As Bridge Tower’s portfolio grew, Velixo enabled the team to scale workflows without hiring more staff.
Journal Entry Writeback, On Repeat
Whether calculating fees or importing trial balances, the team uses writeback daily — no upload files, no friction.
Smarter Reporting, Even for Non-Accountants
Velixo templates are so clear and consistent that even non-finance stakeholders can understand them at a glance.
Accrual Made Possible
With Velixo powering deep reconciliations, Bridge Tower transitioned from cash to accrual accounting — and never looked back.
“Velixo eliminated about 10 steps of review. Now we focus on analysis instead of cleanup.”
Caractéristiques préférées
Cooper and his team rely on nearly every corner of Velixo — but a few features have made an outsized impact on speed, consistency, and ease of use:
- Inter-Entity Matching Reports: Previously a manual task to match loans and investments across all branches in MYOB. It used to take most of a day, now it takes only 20 minutes.
- Budgeting & Forecasting Reports: Used to consolidate financial data and project future performance. Those and many other sample reports can be found on Velixo’s templates register.
- Static Cash Reports: A vital tool for managing daily transactions and planning.
- Dynamic Drilldown: Velixo’s Excel-based drilldown feature presents a summary of underlying data corresponding to a cell containing a Velixo function, making data analysis and auditing more efficient.
What’s next for Bridge Tower
Cooper and the team at Bridge Tower are now focused on making Velixo an even deeper part of their financial infrastructure — turning manual tasks into fully automated workflows.
Some of the projects on the horizon include:
- Leveraging Power Automate and Office Scripts to refresh reports and trigger Velixo writebacks on a schedule
- Exploring ways to automate uploads without opening files — bringing Velixo closer to running entirely in the background
- Connecting Excel directly to external data sources like FTP directories and property management software, enabling data to flow from source to ERP with minimal human input
- Partnering with Velixo and AIM to explore new automation use cases and co-develop advanced reporting flows
We’re proud to support Bridge Tower on the next phase of their journey, and we’re excited to see how far they’ll take Velixo.
They’re also excited to explore Velixo’s Distribution List feature for internal report sharing — and curious about how new construction templates could support their expansion efforts.
